Red and blue again... this is my designated moving/painting/project shirt, okay people?
We don't plan it, I promise.
We spent a week moving in and getting settled, and then packed up again to stay at Sterling's parents house for a week and a half! His parents and bro/sis are traveling in England, so we were the "babysitters" for Ster's 17 year old brother Jaren. Haha. We've been having a joyous time relaxing (for the first time basically since school got out!)
Our adventures:
- Hot tubbing in the backyard
- Going out to dinner with Laura and Brad & Palmer :)
- Watching movies
- Experimenting with pinterest desserts: *If any of you have pinned Crockpot Chocolate Lava Cake ---> Beware! We cooked this deceivingly delicious looking recipe and it was TERRIBLE! It basically turned into a thick gooey pudding mess! Not edible, unless you want to use it as hot fudge to put over your ice cream. Haha. First time pinterest has failed me with a recipe!
(fyi: this is a picture of it before we cooked it. regardless, it ended up about the same consistency! ha!)
- Taking care of chickens
:)
- Staining decks and wearing turquoise pants.
- Painting: I've been wanting to paint our coffee table since we got married, and we finally did! I always forget to take "before" pictures in my anticipation in starting a project. Apparently I didn't take a single picture of it in our last apartment? I was bad a taking pictures though... that will change now!! Anyways, it used to be a light shade of wood. We actually got it from Brad and Laura- thanks for providing me with a project guys!
After the first coat of blue. You can't even tell, but I spent forever diagramming and measuring a chevron pattern on the table! We outlined it with green frog tape and painted over it.
Peeling off the frog tape to show the pattern!
*Picture disclaimer. Pretty sure this was at midnight or something...
After painting in all the stripes a light shade of blue! That took forever... if you ever decide to paint a chevron print, make sure you paint your base color FIRST! If we had done that, we wouldn't have had to paint inside all the lines which was super tedious and hard! Haha oh well, a learning experience.
Here it is back at our apartment! I love it!
(This picture makes the color look weird for some reason?)
I got some block letters at Hobby Lobby and painted them the same shade of blue
to go in our kitchen above the window. Can't wait to hang them up!
Sterling was so good about letting me be creative with the table
even though I'm sure sometimes he was worried about how it would turn out! Haha.
Sterling's parents give all of their kids clocks as wedding presents. We spent days going through a big catalog deciding which one we liked best. It made me so excited to have a house someday so we can have room for the grandfather clock that Sterling made! It's at his parents house right now, until we buy a house and have room for it!
Isn't it beautiful?? He made it his senior year of high school. Who builds a massive clock when they're 18 years old?? He is so talented!
I love doing projects with him because he teaches me so much.
Well, that is a little idea of what we've been up to lately! Lots of laminating and teacher meetings for me! I can't believe I start teaching in two months from tomorrow! EEEEE!
Happy Thursday :)
